Experience Estabrook

Experience Estabrook ( born April 30, 1813 in Lebanon, New Hampshire, † March 26, 1894 in Omaha, Nebraska ) was an American politician. Between 1859 and 1860 he represented the Nebraska Territory as a delegate in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1822, Estabrook moved with his parents to Clarence in Erie County ( New York). There he attended the public schools, and later still the Dickinson College in Carlisle (Pennsylvania). Experience Estabrook finished his education with a law degree from the Chambersburg Law School, also in Pennsylvania. After his made ​​in 1839 admitted to the bar he began as a clerk in the Port of Brooklyn and later working as a lawyer in Buffalo.

In 1840, Estabrook moved to Geneva in Wisconsin Territory, where he also worked as a lawyer. In 1848 he was a delegate to the Constituent Assembly of Wisconsin, and in 1851 he was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly. Between 1852 and 1853 he served as Attorney General in the state.

In 1855 he was appointed by President Franklin Pierce to the Attorney General in the Nebraska Territory. This office he held until 1859. In the congressional elections of 1858 he was elected delegate of the territory in the U.S. House of Representatives. Estabrook took his seat in Congress on 4 March 1859. However, his choice of Samuel Gordon Daily was challenged. After this appeal was upheld, he had to give up his seat to Daily on May 18, 1860.

In 1866, Estabrook was entrusted with the revision of the laws of Nebraska. Between 1867 and 1868 he was district attorney in Douglas County. 1871 Estabrook was a delegate at a meeting on the revision of the Constitution of Nebraska. He died in 1894 and was buried in Omaha.
