Explorer Belt

The Explorer Belt or the Explorer Belt Expedition ( EB, EBE or EBX ) is a developed in 1958, internationally distributed work practice of the Ranger and Rover Scout in European Scouting.

The goal is to get to know through a self-organized expedition abroad in small groups a different culture from their own point of view and thereby stretching your limits. In its form the Explorer Belt expedition reminiscent of the coming of the youth movement ride, but a special emphasis on encounters with the local population and exploring the cultural contexts is placed.

Prior to the expedition, participants usually put on several preparatory weekends their route and focus their exploration firm. At the actual expedition portion comprising normally at least ten days hike to an evaluation of the EBE follows, usually in a joint degree camp.

After participating in an Explorer Belt expedition a leather belt is to the participants of the " Explorer Belt", with a uniform belt buckle awarded.

In German-speaking host, among others, the German Scout Association of Saint George ( DPSG, since 2004), the Association of Christian Scouts and Guides (VCP since 1982) and the Scout Movement Switzerland (PBS, 1995 ) Explorer Belt expeditions. Other Scout associations that participate in the program come from many different Finland, Great Britain, Ireland, Norway, Poland and Sweden.
