Expoland

Expo land ( japエキスポランド) was a theme park in Japan.

The park was opened in 1970 for the World Exhibition 1970 in Suita ( Osaka Prefecture ). Until its closure on December 9, 2007, the park with over 40 rides was one of the major theme parks in Japan.

Figurehead of the park was the roller coaster Daidarasaurus, which was the second longest roller coaster in the world with a length of about 2.3 kilometers to the Steel Dragon 2000 in Nagashima Spa Land. The opening of Expo Daidarasaurus still consisted of two separate coasters that were merged later.

More roller coasters were the Space Salamander, which was opened in 1980, the mini coaster from 1985, the Orochi 1996, the Wild Mouse 1996, the Fujin Raijin II in 1992 and the family roller coaster of 2003.

In May 2007, it came on Fujin Raijin II by a broken axle to an accident in which a woman died and 19 people were injured. In the ensuing investigation it was found that wearing parts have not been replaced for around 15 years. Although the park was reopened in December 2007, shunned visitors to park in the following years and the owners closed the Park February 9, 2009 final.
