Expresso (Portuguese newspaper)

The Expresso [ ɐjʃprɛsu ] is a Portuguese Saturday's appearing weekly. It was founded on January 6, 1973 by later Prime Minister Francisco Pinto Balsemão in Lisbon and always has a liberal orientation. Editorial director were among the other Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa (1980-1983), Augusto Carvalho (1983-1984) and José António Saraiva (1984-2005), since 2005 directs Henrique Monteiro for the media group Impresa belonging newsletter. The Expresso belongs next to the Público and the Diário de Notícias of the most important regularly published newspapers in Portugal.
