The Droga ekspresowa S1 ( ger. for, expressway S1 ') is a finished part or being planned expressway in Poland and connects the motorway junction Pyrzowice, where it crosses the A1 motorway and expressway S11, with the border crossing Cieszyn - Boguszowice ( PL / CZ) and the Czech expressway R48. The S1 is part of the European Routes 75 and 462

A large part of the 130 -km long expressway is referred to as eastern bypass of the Upper Silesian industrial region. In Mysłowice still is slated to better to connect the city to the road network, a branch.

It is a part of Pan-European Corridor VI, Gdansk / Tallinn -Warsaw -Bratislava.

Planning history

A first plan for an eastern bypass of the Upper Silesian industrial area dating back to 1976. Such planning was continued in the plans of 1985, 1993 and 1996. In 2001, the route is designated as S1 for the first time, this was then maintained.
