The Droga ekspresowa S51 ( ger. for, expressway S51 ') is a Polish speedway and provides a connection between the S7 expressway near Olsztynek and the city of Olsztyn; they do runs along the existing National Highway 51 and is one of the shortest highways in Poland. It was originally supposed to still connect the now discarded expressway S16 and be completed in the years 2010 to 2012. Planning history

The Polish network plans of 1945 and 1946 did not contain the connection. In 1963, the route was the first time in the planning. These remained in the power plans of 1971, 1976 and 1985 until the political changes in Poland. 1993 and 1996, the construction of this connection was not provided.

It was not until 2001, she appeared - now under the name S51 - again in a Polish network. This is followed changed in the following planning anything.

Completed sections

The bypass of Olsztynek with a length of 6 km was completed in the context of the section of the S7 expressway between nodes Olsztynek - Zachód and Nidzica - Polnoc in the years from 2010 to 2012. The traffic handover took place on 29 September 2012.

Planned sections

Another section with a length of 15 km is currently in planning. It will connect to the bypass of Olsztynek and to Tomaszkowo, a village just before Olsztyn lead.
