Although the S86 is signposted as a motorway, it is not considered in the current network plans of highways and expressways GDDKiA and in the plans of the government.

As one of the main roads of the Upper Silesian industrial district, and in addition, that even the national road 4 and 94 run along the route, the road is marked by very high traffic, so that it often leads to traffic jams. In the 2010 census, the transport route took first place as a street with the highest traffic volume in Poland. The average traffic volume is 104 339 vehicles per day.
