Extensor carpi ulnaris muscle

The extensor carpi ulnaris (Latin for "elle sided hand executor " or " ulnar hand extensor ") is a at the Elle ( ulna ) situated superficial extensor muscle of the forearm. He has two muscle heads a humeral head ( humeral head ) and an ulnar Caput ( head of the ulna ). The tendon pulls the extensor tendon sheaths by the sixth compartment of retinaculum.

Function

The extensor carpi ulnaris is responsible for extension and ulnar deviation ( bending of the hand toward the little finger) of the hand at the wrist.

In the domestic animals of the muscle already acts as a flexor of the Vorderfußwurzelgelenks, but is still referred to from comparative- anatomical point of view as " extensor ".
