Exton is a census -designated place (CDP ) in West Whiteland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, USA. In the 2010 census Exton had 4842 inhabitants.

Traffic

Exton lies at the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 ( formerly " Lancaster Road ", later Lincoln Highway) and Pennsylvania Route 100 From the late 1700s was the Lancaster Road, a main route between Philadelphia and the West. Today's Route 100 was the regional north-south connection to Pottstown, Pennsylvania. A theory exists that Exton was named after this intersection as the "X" on the map ( X -Town ). More likely, however, that the village was named after one of Extons in England.
