Extractor (firearms)

The extractor is part of the closure systems of firearms. Other names are " extractor claw " or " Auszieherhaken ".

The extractor is a claw or hook -shaped and resiliently mounted in the movable part of the locking system. The claw or hook engages in idle mode (shutter locked) by a recess at the end of the cartridge chamber in the designated groove ( edge ) or edge of the cartridge case to this, after firing at the rear movement of the movable part of the locking system from the cartridge chamber to draw. The cartridge case then strikes the ejector, which they transported from the closure system and thus from the weapon.
