Geography

Geographical Location

Eyendorf lies east of Lüneburg Heath Nature Park. The community belongs to the Samtgemeinde salt Hausen, which has its headquarters in the town of Salt Hausen.

History

Eyendorf was founded in 1084.

Culture and sights

Structures

  • The Eyendorfer windmill from 1897 is from the " Association for the Conservation of Eyendorfer windmill " operated as a museum mill. It is part of the Lower Saxon Mill Road.
  • The passage grave Eyendorf 1 lies in a birch group at Märtenberg, south of the village. The no longer complete megalithic grave was 3500-2800 BC as the megalithic Funnel Beaker Culture ( TBK ).

Traffic

For the A 7 motorway, which is located in the west of the municipality, it is about 7 km. In addition Eyendorf lies on the railway line Winsen - Hützel that is predominantly traveled by freight trains.
