Eyguières

Eyguières is a commune with 6446 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bouches -du -Rhône region of Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur and capital of the canton of the same name.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the mountain chain of the Alpilles and is part of the Regional Natural Park of the Alpilles.

History

Eyguières was later than the 15th century fief of the Sade family. 1830, the formerly independent municipality Roque Martine was incorporated by Eyguières.
