Eyota is a city in Olmsted County, Minnesota, United States. In 2000, the city had 1644 inhabitants. Eyota is part of the School District Dover - Eyota.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.0 square kilometers, which accounts for all of it land.
The southern branch of the Whitewater River runs along the northern edge of the city.
U.S. Highway 14 and Minnesota State Route 42 are the two main streets in the city. Interstate 90 leads immediately to the south over.
Demographic data
At the time of the census of 2000, there were 1644 people Eyota. The population density was 409.5 people per km ². There were 614 housing units at an average 152.9 per km ². The population consisted of Hoquiams 98.36 % White, 0.18 % African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.43 % Asian, 0.06 % reported from other races, and 0.85 % from two or more races. 0.43 % of the population to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Place name
The name " Eyota " is borrowed from the Native language and has the meaning " supérieur ". According to an embodiment of this name better reflects the view of the first settlers that the land here is of good quality and it was hoped thus to attract more settlers. Another theory relates to the fact that the place is higher than its surroundings.
