Ezio Loik
Ezio Loik ( born September 26, 1919 in Fiume, † May 4, 1949 at Superga ) was an Italian football player. As part of the famous crew of the Grande Torino, he won five Italian league titles and made it to nine caps for his country.
Career
Ezio Loik, born in 1919 in Fiume, which was Italian province at that time, started playing football at the resident in his home town club U.S. Fiumana. In the series C 1936/37, the young midfielder made 41 league games in which he scored twelve Torerfolge. After this one year of the first team of Fiumana Ezio Loik left his hometown club and joined AC Milan. For Milan Loik made 1937-1940 a total of 53 games in the Serie A, but he scored ten goals. After three years in Milan Ezio Loik changed in the summer of 1940 for AC Venice, where he co-designed at all the most successful phase in the club's history. Against AS Roma, the team took to the young Valentino Mazzola in the Coppa Italia 1940/41, the title, after being victorious by a goal from just Ezio Loik 1-0 in a replay. Was very successful also Loiks second season in the league operating in Venice. With the third place in Serie A 1941/42, we reached this season to date, the best result in the highest Italian football league.
After the end of the season 1941/42, Ezio Loik changed again the employer and signed a contract with the reigning vice-champion Torino. In Torino Loik was in the following years, instrumental in the construction of the Grande Torino, who was then by far the best Italian club team. The Grande Torino by actors such as star striker Valentino Mazzola, defender Mario Rigamonti or winger Romeo Menti dominated Italian football of late forties and took 1943-1949 five times in series, the football championship in Italy, only interrupted by the Second World War, of a break of the gaming operation made necessary. On 4 May 1949, the winning streak of the Torino ended with a shock. On the return flight, the pilot steered his plane in heavy fog on the mountain Superga Turin, where it shattered against the Basilicata.
