Fábio Aurélio

Fábio Aurélio Rodrigues ( * September 24, 1979 in São Carlos, Brazil ) is a Brazilian footballer. He is a defender and is since 2012 the Brazilian first division club Gremio under contract.

Career

Fabio Aurelio played in his youth club FC São Paulo from 1997 in the first team. After the 2000 Olympics he moved to Spain with Valencia FC and signed a contract for six years. In the 2001 /02 season he won with Valencia to the Spanish league title and was thus already celebrating his first major success. The 2003/04 season was a very successful season for the club. Fabio Aurelio but had to miss the entire season because of a broken leg and was only two appearances in the Primera Liga and the UEFA Cup.

In the following season he put his injury away well and was able to look back on more missions the Spanish champions. In the 2005/06 season he played in 24 of a total of 38 league games and scored two goals. Also in the Intertoto Cup in 2006 was part of the starting eleven Aurelio Valencia FC, but they lost in the final against Hamburger SV.

Fabio Aurelio has an Italian passport. This was the basis that his club were allowed in the Spanish League Appearances as EU citizens.

From 2006 to 2010 Fabio Aurelio played for a transfer fee transfer at Liverpool, where he again under Rafael Benítez, his former Coach of FC Valencia, worked. This was according to statements by Aurelio also the main reason for his move to the English record.

On May 25, Liverpool announced that there was no agreement on a contract extension. Thus Aurélio left the club in the summer. On July 31, the Liverpool defender 's return was however known, who signed a two-year fixed-term contract.

On 24 May 2012, the Brazilian first division side Gremio announced that Aurélio has signed a contract until 31 December 2013. He works there with Vanderlei Luxemburgo, his coach in various Brazilian youth national teams, together.

National

Fabio Aurelio played in numerous U -17, U -20 and U - 23 games in Brazil. He participated with his native country at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, where in the first game against Slovakia he netted a goal. Other games in the Olympics, he played against South Africa, Japan and Cameroon.

For the Brazilian national team Aurelio came, however, not yet used.
