Fabio Liverani

Fabio Liverani ( born April 29, 1976 in Rome, Italy ) is a retired Italian footballer and current coach.

During his playing days he was active on the position of midfielder. His mother is from Somalia, his father is Italian.

Playing career

In the club

Fabio Liverani started his career at Nocerina Calcio, for the season 1996/97 he moved to AS Viterbese Calcio. In his third season at Viterbo in the club succeeded in promotion to Serie C1. For the season 2000/ 01 changed Liverani for Serie A club AC Perugia, where he was able to win right away. During the 2001/ 02 season he moved to league rivals Lazio. As a result, Liverani became one of the top performers and was the 2004 Coppa Italia win. For the 2006/07 season Liverani moved to Fiorentina. After two years there he moved in 2008 for three years to Palermo, where he immediately became one of the top performers and captain.

In summer 2011, Liverani left Sicily and moved to FC Lugano in the Swiss Challenge League, where he did not, however, came into use, and his active career ended.

In the National Team

For the Italian National Liverani played from 2001 to 2006 three matches, his first on 25 April 2001 under Giovanni Trapattoni 's 1-0 win against South Africa. Thus he was the first Italian to African descent, who played one match for the Azzurri.

Coaching career

In November 2011, Fabio Liverani was youth coach at Genoa. In July 2013 he was officially presented as coach of the first team of the club and succeeds by Davide Ballardini.
