This business model, which was developed by Gordon Campbell, the founder of Chips & Technologies, has the advantage that the company does not have to worry about the production of the chips and the development of the necessary processes themselves, but the solely on the development circuits can concentrate. Especially in an age in which the establishment of a semiconductor factory cost several billion euros, fabless companies are widespread. The major fabless companies belong to the Fabless Semiconductor Association (FSA ).
