Fabrizio Faniello

Fabrizio Faniello (born 27 April 1981 Valletta) is a Maltese pop singer. He represented Malta at the Euro Vision Song Contest in 2001 and 2006.

Family

Faniello has two younger sisters, Claudia and Miriana. Claudia also sings and stepped forward to with smaller, Maltese festivals.

Career

Faniello discovered his passion for singing in school. His teacher advised the parents that Faniello should take singing lessons. However, he was interested not only for music but also for football. Faniello played in the Maltese national youth team and joined two UEFA matches against Israel and Cyprus. In 1997, he played for one year in Turin. At the age of sixteen years Faniello, however, decided that he would rather make music professionally and returned to Malta.

Euro vision

In 1998, Faniello the first time in the Maltese preliminary Malta Song for Europe to Euro Vision Song Contest. With the title More than Just a Game, he took second place. In 1999 he joined on to another Maltese competition titled Sa L- Ahhar. In the Maltese preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest 2000 Faniello participated with the song Change of Heart.

With Another Summer Night Faniello finally won the preliminary round Maltese Malta Song for Europe and therefore took the Euro Vision Song Contest 2001 in Copenhagen, Denmark, in part. He finished the final ninth place. This was the beginning of his international career. In 2003 he succeeded with I'm in Love ( The Whistle Hit) a top 10 hit in the Swedish charts. In addition, he was also represented in the Finnish (11th ) and Belgian charts (No. 30). Despite numerous other singles and albums regularly publishing this remained his only significant chart success in Europe.

Faniello participated again in the preliminary round for the Euro Vision Song Contest 2004 Did I Ever Tell You. In 2005 he tried again unsuccessfully, this time he took twelfth place with Do not Tell it. In October 2005, he sang Another Summer Night again at the TV show Congratulations on the 50th anniversary of the Euro vision.

On February 4, 2006 Faniello finally won again the Maltese Malta Song for Europe decider and took the Euro Vision Song Contest 2006 in Athens, Greece, in part. His song I Do, which he wrote together with Aldo Spiteri, won with 7729 votes caller by a margin of only 106 votes just ahead of Olivia Lewis' Take a Moment ( 7623 callers). In the final of the Euro Vision Song Contest, it was only the last place with just one point from Albania. After a pause Faniello took then not again until 2011 with No Surrender and 2012 with I Will Fight For You ( Papa's Song) on Maltese preliminary decision in part. However, for the international final, he could not qualify.

In November 2012 Faniello audience during a Euro Vision Fan Club meeting, a concert in Cologne.
