Faccetta Nera

Faccetta Nera (Italian for " black little face " ) is the title of the occasion of the Italian- Ethiopian war in 1935 by Giuseppe Micheli created march song of the Italian troops or the fascist militia.

It was considered a battle song of the fascist movement in Italy, and is still a popular song in the neo-fascist scene. Faccetta Nera is interpreted as a black ribbon, which stands for a black scarf or a black armband or for the black shirts of the Italian fascists ( Blackshirts ) itself.

The text glorifies the Italian invasion intentions. The song is like a serenade to a (possibly not only fictitious ) beautiful Abyssinian ( Ethiopian ) formulated with that very black little face and "explained" her that the Italians had come only to give her the freedom ( a new king, a new law ) to bring, and to let them share in the supposed new greatness of Rome under Mussolini.
