Facino Cane

Facino Cane de Casale (* 1360 in Casale Monferrato, † May 16 1412 in Pavia ) was an Italian condottieri.

He stood first in the Gian Galeazzo Visconti service, the duke of Milan, who fought against Mantua. After Visconti's death in 1402, he took over the protection of the sons of the deceased, Giovanni Maria Visconti, the new Duke, and Filippo Maria Visconti. He took over the regency for the minor new Duke Giovanni Maria Visconti and became his Großcondottiere. Later he moved through northern Italy, won a Byzantine Princess Beatrice di Tenda to the bride. As Facino 1412 was deathly ill in Pavia, conspirators used the opportunity to carry on down the cruel tyrant Giovanni Maria Visconti in the church of San Gottardo in Milan. As Jacob Burckhardt describes in The Civilization of the Renaissance in Italy, let the dying Facino on the same day vow his officers, Filippo Maria Visconti, the brother and heir of the slain Giovanni Maria Visconti to help. He also suggested that his wife Beatrice di Tenda may marry after his death with the Filippo Maria, what then happened soon. Beatrice di Tenda handed over after the death of Condottiere whose country the Filippo Maria Visconti.
