The Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University ( Thai: คณะ แพทยศาสตร์ ศิริราช พยาบาล มหาวิทยาลัย มหิดล, RTGS: Khana Phaetyasat Sirirat Phayaban, Mahawitthayalai Mahidon ) is one of two medical faculties of Mahidol University and is also the oldest and largest university hospital in Thailand. It is located in Bangkok Bangkok Noi district on the banks of the Chao Phraya River.

The hospital was founded by King Chulalongkorn ( Rama V ) in 1888, two years after a worldwide cholera outbreak. It is named after the 18- month-old son, Prince Siriraj Kakuttaphan named, the - one year before the opening of the hospital - died of dysentery. The medical college was established in the year 1890 two years later. Under the patronage of Prince Mahidol Adulyadej and the support of the Rockefeller Foundation, Siriraj is one of the most advanced centers for medical services and research in Thailand and Southeast Asia. From the medical school was 1943, the University of Medical Science ( Mahawitthayalai Phaetyasat ) show that in 1969 renamed Mahidol University and expanded into a full university. The hospital is located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River on the former site of " Rear Palace " (Wang Lang). Opposite him, on the other side of the river, the Tha - Phrachan campus of Thammasat University is located on the former site of the " Front Palace " (Wang Na) in Bangkok 's Old Town. With a capacity of more than 3,000 beds and more than one million outpatient visits per year, Siriraj is one of the largest, busiest medical centers in Thailand. The logo of the Siriraj Hospital and the Medical College is the mythological Naga serpent beings in the form of a " ศ " (pronounced " Sor - Sala " ), the first letter of the hospital name in Thai script with a stylized crown above.

The Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital is at the heart of the Bangkok Noi Campus, Mahidol University. At this but also includes the faculties of nursing, medical and physiotherapy.
