Faenius Rufus

Lucius Faenius Rufus († April 65 ) was in the years 55 to 62 annonae Prefect of Rome. According to the reports of Tacitus he not enriched himself in the exercise of the office, which was seen as an exception. After the death of Burrus Faenius Rufus was appointed along with Tigellinus to the praetorian prefect.

In the year 65 he was one of the co-conspirators of Piso's conspiracy against the emperor Nero. First, however, he was going even against the conspirators to save his life. His involvement in the conspiracy, however, was uncovered, and he was executed on the orders of Nero.
