Fagor

Fagor Electrodomésticos, S.Coop. is a cooperative organized household appliances manufacturer based in Mondragón, Spain. It is part of the Mondragón Cooperative Corporation, the largest cooperative in the world. Fagor has filed bankruptcy in November 2013.

The Company

With sales of € 1.2 billion in 2012 and a market share of 5.1 %, the Fagor Group is the fifth largest major domestic appliances manufacturers in Europe and the market leader in France was (market share: 14.2% ) and Spain (market share: 16.3% ) and the second best-selling brand in Poland (market share: 7.2%). In the category Top Loaders Fagor was the largest producer worldwide and manufactures top loader Europe for well-known brands. In Europe, Fagor market leader for top loading, top-loading washing machines and tumble dryer, ( 700,000 units in 2011) and pyrolysis ovens and induction hobs.

The Fagor Group was represented in 130 countries and employed 5,700 people worldwide in 2013., The company was operating in seven business sectors. In addition to large electrical appliances and small electrical appliances, kitchen furniture, hot water tank and air conditioning units were produced and marketed. Annually produced Fagor six million large electrical appliances, which at 13 production ( mainly: Spain, France, Poland) were manufactured in five countries. Of these, eleven manufacturing facilities were in Europe. In France, Fagor has five plants with a total of 1870 employees (cook products in Orléans and Vendôme, cooling technology in Verolanuova, washing machines and microwaves in Lyon and La Roche- sur -Yon / Aizenay ). Another important work is in Poland ( Wroclaw).

With debt of around € 800 million, the company had to file on October 17, 2013 a so-called preliminary bankruptcy ( preconcurso by Spanish law ); In early November declared both the subsidiary in Poland, Fagor Master Cook, and in France, FagorBrandt, and on 13 November the parent company in Spain insolvency.

Brands of the Fagor Group

Fagor marketed its products under the brand names Fagor, Brandt, Master Cook and De Dietrich; also the brand Edesa, Aspes, Thomson, San Giorgio, Vedette, Sauter, Samet and Ocean were driven in some product groups. In France, the Fagor Group with the brand Fagor - Brandt and in Spain with the brand Fagor leader. The Master Cook brand was on sale ranking in Poland in second position.

Fagor Germany

Fagor since 2002 was represented in the German market with the Fagor Home Appliances Group, based in Dreieich and drove here the Fagor brand.
