Fahrni

Fahrni is a municipality in the administrative district of Thun in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

The place is situated on the hillside on the heights between the Rotacher and the Zulgtal. The community consists of numerous hamlets and farmsteads. The main settlements are the Dorfli Äschlisbühl, Bach, Embergboden, Lueg and Rachholtern. Of the total area of 668 ha community 68.8 % is used for agriculture. Other 25.5% is covered by forest and woodland and 4.6 % settlement area.

Population

Beginning of 2005, the municipality had 721 inhabitants. Of these, 708 ( = 98.20 %), Swiss nationals and 13 foreign immigrants.

The voting shares of the parties at the national elections of 2011 were: SVP 52.1 %, BDP 14.1 %, SP 11.0 %, GPS 4.5 %, EDU 4.0 %, FDP 4.0 %, EPP 3.5 %, glp 2.5 %, pirates 1.6 %, CVP 0.6 %.
