Faimbe

Faimbe is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Faimbe is located on 345 m, 5 km north- northeast of L' Isle- sur -le- Doubs and about 14 km west of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in a valley widening in the hills north of Doubstals, northeast of Mont de Bellevoie.

The area of ​​1.97 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the hills north of Doubstals. The central part of the area is occupied by a shallow valley, which has a width of approximately one kilometer. In this valley widening lead from various valleys, but which have no above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. To the south, the area extends to the heights of Mont de Bellevoie ( up to 420 m ) to the north- east to the edge of the high plateau of Bretigney. History

In the Middle Ages Faimbe belonged to the rule Granges, which came under the suzerainty of the Counts of Montbéliard in the 14th century. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Today Faimbe is part of the municipal association Communauté de communes des Isles du Doubs.

Population

With 108 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Faimbe is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the range between 40 and 70 people, a significant population increase has been recorded since the early 1980s.
