The Fairfield University is a private university in Roman Catholic- based in Fairfield in the State of Connecticut.

The Fairfield University was founded in 1942 by the Jesuits and is one of 28 members of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.

Currently approximately 4,000 undergraduate and 900 graduate students study at the six colleges of Fairfield University. The location of the campus in Fairfield right on Long Iceland Sound allows the upperclassmen to live in beach houses. With the regular train of Metro North (MTA ) New York City ( Grand Central Terminal ) is only an hour away.

The sports teams of the University of hot Stags and play NCAA Division 1 level (highest level ) in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The lacrosse and football team are ' nationally ranked ', that is, they are among the 25 best college teams in the United States. The official university color is cardinal red.
