Faiz Karizi

Faiz Karizi (Persian فيض كاريزي ) (* 1953 in Kar -e Zamin, a suburb of Kabul ) is an Afghan singer. He is also referred to as the "King of the folk music." Currently (2008) he lives in Sweden.

During his high school years he participated in social and artistic activities. His classmates and teachers encouraged him to sing. In 1978, he appeared on national television of Afghanistan and quickly became a famous singer. During this time he began recording several albums. Later he moved to Peshawar in Pakistan. In 2001 Karizi fled to Sweden.
