The population density is 1239 inhabitants per km ².

Geography and place name

Faja de Baixo (Portuguese fajã = position name: flat area near the sea, on lava cliffs; Baixo = lowland, sub - deep ) is slightly above sea level, about one kilometer northeast of the city limits of Ponta Delgada on the road EN4 -1A by Fenais da Luz on the northern side of the island. Immediately adjacent to the northwest is the sister community Faja de Cima.

Economy

The main source of income is agriculture. Mentioned here is especially the pineapple breeding in glass greenhouses.
