Fakir Musafar

Fakir Musafar is the stage name of Roland Laomis ( born August 10, 1930 in South Dakota). He is considered the founder of the Modern Primitive Movement. On his own body, he experimented early on with different techniques of body modification such as piercing, branding, or the suspension, and was known for wearing extremely tight corset.

At twelve, he stabbed the first piercing and led in 1966 or 1967 before a breast suspension. 1977, he joined the International Tattoo Convention in Nevada for the first time in public under the pseudonym Fakir Musafar. His partner is Cleo Dubois.

1992 to 1999 he published the journal Body Play and Modern Primitives Quarterly.

Musafars texts and photographs have been published in Theatre Journal, Bizarre magazine, Skin Two and PFIQ ( Piercing Fan International Quarterly ).

2005 had Fakir Musafar with in the documentary Modify.
