Falconer (Band)

Falconer is a Swedish power metal band from Mjölby, which was founded by the former Mithotyn guitarist Stefan Weinerhall in May 1999 after the dissolution of the band. Weinerhall wanted to continue to make folk -influenced metal, but without harsh vocals as Mithotyn.

Band History

After the separation of the band " Mithotyn " 1999, guitarist Stefan Weinerhall decided in the future from the folk -inspired metal to make. While he was still grossed at the first songs himself guitar and bass, and the drums using drum machines and the later singer Mathias Blad hired as a session musician, came after the release of a demo in early 2000 and a contract with Metal Blade Records, the former Mithotyn - drummer Karsten Larsson joined the band. In addition, Mathias Blad was, is musical singer full time and virtually no experience in a rock or metal band, had integrated as a fixed singers in the band.

The end of 2000 began the recording of the debut album Falconer, which was then published in early 2001. After the second CD Chapters From a Vale Forlorn was published in 2002, the band received several offers to play at festivals. The musicians opted to be not only a pure studio project and accepted the offers. This, however, had another guitarist and a bassist to be found, so far as these functions alone took over Weinerhall. So the two are not related Johansson, Peder and Anders came to Falconer. At the same time left Mathias Blad, the band, the concerts and tours in time could not cope because of his actual profession as a musical singer. Replacement was found in Kristoffer Göbel.

The band in 2003 recorded their third album, The Sceptre of Deception. Some time later, in May 2004, Anders and Peder Johansson left the group. With Magnus Linhardt (bass) and Jimmy Hedlund (guitar) but replacement could be found.

In 2005, the album Grime vs. appeared. Grandeur, which did not find the hoped-for appeal among the fans. The band then decided to return to their roots, and took in exchange for Göbel Mathias Blad again in the group.

On 22 September 2006, they released their fifth studio album Northwind. 22 August 2008 Among Beggars and Thieves came on the market.

The current album Armod appeared on 3 June 2011 and is mainly written in Swedish.

Style

The band has taken some traditions Weinerhalls former band Mithotyn. They play a form of Power Metal, the folk instruments and melodies used to generate a medieval sound.

Worth mentioning is the old and new vocalist Mathias Blad who understands because of his many years of professional experience to emphasize on the Swedish State Opera the epic- folk style with a classically trained voice. This is described by many listeners as particularly clear and expressive, his vocal technique is audible professionally.
