Faliro Coastal Zone Olympic Complex

The Faliro Coastal Zone Olympic Complex ( FCO) is a sports center, which has been remodeled along with a marina and a promenade for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. It lies on the coast 10 km west of the city center, in the suburb of Paleo Faliro. The distance to the Olympic village is 25 km. The center consists of three different venues.

The coastline to the mouth of Kifisos is to be renovated according to plans of the Italian architect Renzo Piano and transformed into a large park. The project is supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and also includes the construction of new National Library and Opera House at this point.

Sports Pavilion

In the Sports Pavilion, the Taekwondo competitions and handball preliminary matches were held. History

Currently, the SEF is used by the basketball section of the club Olympiakos Piraeus.

Olympic Beach Volleyball Centre

During the Olympics, the open beach volleyball stadium took 9,600 spectators. After the competitions, the temporary opposite stand of 10.8 million euro expensive new building was removed, so that the current image of the stadium resembles a modern amphitheater.
