History

Falkenberg was first documented in 1154 in connection with the Burg Falkenberg. 1274 Falkenberg was by marriage of the daughter of a Count property of the Landgrave of Leuchtenberg to the monastery forest Assen 1309, the castle and its surroundings bought up ( see also Stiftland ). Incorporations

On 1 July 1972, a part of the dissolved municipality Lengenfeld at Tirschenreuth was incorporated. On 1 January 1977 was added pools.

Coat of arms

Falkenberg has its own coat of arms since 1567. It is divided by black and blue; a shortened golden Abtstab that represents the connection to the Cistercian monastery forest Assen, whose family has owned the castle Falkenberg came up in a silver stake at the end of the 13th century. Down on three silver rocks sitting a golden hawk. This is the talking picture for the place name. The coat of arms granted administrator Count Palatine Reichard the market in 1567.

Partnerships

Since the summer of 2005 the market Falkenberg has a partnership with the Hungarian community Nagyvázsony. The signing of the Twinning Charter was held in Falkenberg on 30 July 2005. The instrument has been countersigned in September 2006 during a visit to Hungary.

Natural Monuments

The castle hill on which the castle was built, is considered Geotop. In Falkenberg Nature Reserve Waldnaabtal, which has south of Falkenberg some peculiar rock formations of granite starts (eg chamber cars, beaver stone, butter churn and Gletschermühle ).

Specialty

Widely known and respected specialty beer in Falkenberg is the Zoigl.

Economy and infrastructure

The largest employer in the city is the software company founded by Falk Berger Brothers Zrenner 1999 IGZ Logistics IT GmbH which itself as a leading SAP Project House for logistics and production to the introduction of SAP software for automated logistics and production processes in companies and groups in all industries specialized.

Public institutions

Youth Tannenlohe

Since a field change, which is June 1, 2004 into effect, the hamlet lies with the Youth Tannenlohe on Falkenberg municipality. Owner operated by the German Youth Hostel Hostel is the Tirschenreuth. The hostel was previously however in the district of the city Bernstein Windischeschenbach in the district of Neustadt ad Waldnaab. As a result of the expansion of A 93, there were different views on the recognition of the community boundaries. In the interest of clear assignment according to the municipal boundaries finally a Gebietsumgliederung was carried out by regulation of the Government of Upper Palatinate.

Personalities

Friedrich Werner von der Schulenburg, bought in 1936, the ruins of Falkenstein mountain and turned it into his retirement home. He was German Ambassador in Moscow, and thus instrumental in the conclusion of the German - Soviet Non-Aggression Pact of 1939. Later he was involved in the assassination attempt of July 20, 1944, Adolf Hitler and was consequently executed on 10 November 1944 in Plotzensee. If successful, the attack he would have been provided as foreign minister in the new government. In December 2008, the market Falkenberg bought the castle.
