Falkenštejn Castle

The Rock Castle Falkenstein, also Sokolí ( German Falkenstein ) is located in the Bohemian Switzerland in Jetřichovice ( Dittersbach ). From the medieval castle rock today only a few remnants remain. Get is a larger room and gouged numerous bars bearing the earlier wooden structures. Noteworthy is the location in a crevice once 25 meters deep wells.

History

Little is known about the castle. It is known that Burggraf Mikes Blejketa in 13-14. Century has used the castle as a base for his raids. During the Hussite Wars of Falkenstein was the starting point for forays into Upper Lusatia (according to the traditions of 1427 and 1430). In 1444 the castle was therefore besieged and destroyed by the Upper Lusatian Six Towns League.

Since the 19th century, the castle is a popular tourist destination.
