Geography

Fallenbach located in the northern wine district in the south of Laa level lying hills in Lower Austria, about ten kilometers south-southeast of Laa an der Thaya.

The area of ​​the municipality covers 30.42 square kilometers. 21.53 percent of the area is forested.

History

In the last days of World War II, 2 to 20 April 1945 was Fallenbach scene of fierce fighting between troops and eventful of the Wehrmacht and the Red Army, which took place between Fallenbach and Altenmarkt. Several civilians were killed and many buildings destroyed or at least damaged. On April 21, 1945 Fallenbach was occupied by the Red Army. In Loos village infantry and tank battles took place over 4 days before April 22, the Soviets occupied the village. View on ruins of Hansel castle, a small unit of the Waffen- SS, however, could hold up to the capitulation of the Wehrmacht on 8 May 1945.

Sports

The USC Fallenbach is playing in Hagendorf sports club with sections tennis and football. The club was founded in 1970. The Soccer first team plays in the 2nd circuit class Pulkautal.
