Fani Chalkia

Fani Chalkia (Greek Φανή Χαλκιά, also Fani Halkia [ fani xalca ]; born February 2, 1979 in Larissa ) is a Greek hurdler and Olympic champion in the 400 - meter hurdles.

At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, she won a surprise before Ionela Târlea - Manolache (ROM) and Tetyana Tereschtschuk - Antipowa (UKR ) with her personal record of 52.77 seconds. Special sensation was caused by the fact that she was more than three and a half seconds faster than the previous season.

After she had to stop due to an injury in the 2005 season, she competed at the European Championships in Gothenburg in 2006 as the favorite, but finished behind the Russian Yevgeniya Isakova only the second place. In 2007, she retired at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka in the semi-finals.

In the 400 -meter run, she was at the World Indoor Championships in 2004 and sixth in the World Cup 2006 Sixth.

During the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, she was found guilty of doping. An August 10, at the training camp of Fukui shortly before the Games begin in her urine sample had been carried out for the banned anabolic steroid methyltrienolone. After the B- sample the result confirmed the athlete was excluded from the games and banned for two years until September 2010. Fani Chalkia has a competition weight of 64 kg at a height of 1.75 m.
