Fantasia (music)

A fantasy, or even Fantasia Fantaisie (Latin phantasia, thought, imagination ) is a freely -composed piece of music.

A fantasy occurs more frequently than in the Baroque Prelude, so as a prelude to Bach's Leipzig chorales example before ( Fantasia super: Come Holy Spirit, Lord God ) on or before various joints. There exists a three-part song form ( ABA form ). The concept of fantasy is not quite delineate the prelude or toccata, because it was often improvised. One also knows Echo fantasies for example, a plurality of fan groups or for different -sounding keyboards of an organ.

Later the term was used for a fantasy completely free -composed piece of music, such as Mozart's Fantasy in D minor.

Similarly, the term is combined, Fantaisie -Impromptu (Op. 66 posthumous) with the Chopin or Beethoven denotes two piano sonatas (No. 14, Op 27 No 1 and 2) as " quasi una fantasia".
