The eight fantasy pieces op 12 form a cycle of piano pieces by Robert Schumann. Schumann composed the pieces in the spring of 1837. The title is inspired by ETA Hoffmann's collection Fantasy Pieces in Callot's Manner and thus also of Novalis ' original concept. The cycle is Anna Robena Laidlaw (1819-1901), a Scottish pianist dedicated to the student of Henri Herz and Louis Berger.
