FAPAR

FPAR or FAPAR ( Fraction of absorbed Photosythetic Active Radiation ) describes the proportion of radiation which is theoretically available for photosynthesis (wavelength of 0.4 to 0.7 microns ), which is actually absorbed by the vegetation. It is a dimensionless biophysical variable (English LAI of leaf area index BFI ) allows, together with the leaf area index, a description of photosynthesis and thus the state of the vegetation. FPAR and LAI can partly from a great distance, for example from satellites to determine why they are frequently used parameter for describing and monitoring of ecosystems.
