Far point

As far point is defined as the end point of the line of sight to which the eye is set without accommodation. He is with the emmetropic ( normal sighted ) eye at infinity, the myopic ( nearsighted ) before the retina of the eye and the hyperopic behind it. It follows that the far point is a virtual point at normal and short-sighted a real and far-sighted.

The opposite, ie, the near point or minimum visual distance is achieved at maximum accommodation. It lies in childhood at about 7 cm and advances with age in the distance ( see Fig.) Thus, the near point is an individual size, which can vary greatly.
