Farbauti ( Saturn XL) is one of the smaller outer moons of the planet Saturn.
Discovery
The discovery of Farbauti by David C. Jewitt, Scott S. Sheppard, Jan Kleyna and Brian G. Marsden on recordings of 12 December 2004 to 9 March 2005, it was announced on 3 May 2005. Farbauti first received the provisional designation S/2004 S 9 In April 2007, the moon was named after the Storm Giants Farbauti, the father of the god Loki, from Norse mythology.

Farbauti orbits Saturn at a retrograde eccentric orbit in about 1086 days. The orbital eccentricity is 0.206, the orbit is inclined with 156.4 ° to the ecliptic.
