Farchtensee

The Farchtensee is a lake in the Gail Valley Alps, near the Weissensee. The lake is largely undeveloped in a protected area of 190 hectares ( Gazette No. 85/1970 ). Its catchment area is approximately 8.64 km ².

Detected in fish species are:

  • Pike (Esox lucius),
  • Chub ( Leuciscus cephalus ),
  • Carp ( Cyprinus carpio),
  • Roach ( Rutilus rutilus )
  • Rudd ( Scardinius erythrophthalmus )
  • Tench ( Tinca tinca ) and
  • Perch (Perca fluviatilis).

The lake is home to Carinthia's highest crayfish occurrence (Astacus astacus ).
