Faribault County, Minnesota

The Faribault County is a county located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010, the County had 14,553 inhabitants and a population density of 7.9 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Blue Earth, which was named after the Blue Earth River.

Geography

The County is located in the extreme south of Minnesota and adjacent to Iowa. It has an area of 1869 square kilometers, of which 21 square kilometers are water surface. The largest river in the County is the Blue Earth River, a southern tributary of the opening into the Mississippi River Minnesota. At the Faribault County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Faribault County was formed on February 20, 1855 from portions of Blue Earth County. It was named after Jean -Baptiste Faribault (1775-1860), one originating from Canada dealer, who settled as one of the first white settlers in the area.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2010 lived in Faribault County 14,553 people in 6274 households. The population density was 7.9 people per square kilometer. In the 6274 households lived statistically 2.27 per person.
