Faringdon branch

The Faringdon Railway was a British railway company in Oxfordshire in England.

The Company received on 13 August 1860, the concession for the construction of a 5.6 km long 2140 mm broad gauge railway line from Faringdon after Uffington Road to the railway line of the Great Western Railway between London and Bristol. Funding was provided by local entrepreneurs. The line was opened on 1 June 1864. The operation is carried out from the beginning by the GWR. On August 10, 1878, the gauging was carried out on standard gauge. The Great Western Railway took over the Faringdon Railway finally on 25 June 1886.
