Farnworth is a town in the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester in England. Farnworth is a member of the administrative headquarters of the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton.
The town was first mentioned in 1282 as Ffornword. 1611 the first carbon manhole was put into operation. The city is industrial in character even today. It has a market, a theater and is known for the underground canals that lead from the mines according to Worsley.
Farnworth is the home of St. Gregory 's Catholic Club, known for the TV comedy Phoenix Nights.
