Farquhar Group

The Farquhar Group is a group of islands belonging to the Republic of Seychelles. It is located in the Indian Ocean about 700 km south-west of Mahé largest island and is within the Seychelles to the so-called Outer Islands.

Was discovered the island group already in 1501 by the Portuguese navigator João da Nova.

The group consists of two atolls, the Farquhar Atoll in the South and the Providence Atoll in the north. West of Providence Atoll is the individually preferred island of St. Pierre. The Group includes the almost lying below the sea Wizard riff. The total land area of ​​all islands in the Farquhar Group is about 10 km ², including the area of the lagoons but 370 km ².

On Providence and Farquhar there is one small settlement, St. Pierre is uninhabited.
