Farrenberg

The Farrenberg ( 819.6 m above sea level. NHN ) is the local mountain of Mossingen or the Mössinger district Talheim in Baden -Württemberg. From there a narrow highway leading to the plateau.

On the Farrenberg is a glider and motor airfield. Here are the two flight sports clubs FSV FSV Mossingen and Tübingen are active. Each summer, an air show is organized.

The Farrenberg can also be reached on paths which have their starting point from the Mössinger Olga height ( see below ) or Talheim. From Ziegler's slip results in a view of the escarpment and a part of the district of Tübingen. Another view arises from Bismarckskapf in the northwest corner of the Farrenberg Plateau.

When temperature inversions in the cold season of Farrenberg often extends beyond the lying in fog Steinlachtal addition.

On a 780 m above sea level. NHN high mountain ridge to the east lie the ruins of the castle on deck. There shall be held annually on Whit Monday the Andeckfest Talheimer the local chapter of the Swabian Alp Association instead.

The plateau is due to the formed by the banked limestones of the White Jura beta layer surface. The Farrenberg was separated by headward erosion of book Bach and Holderbach in the south of the plateau of the Swabian Alb. He is therefore regarded as witnesses mountain. On the Farrenberg the pasture of Mössinger breeding bulls was formerly ( Farren ). Hence the name of the Farrenbergs comes. The plateau is now grazed by sheep and is kept open for flight operations.

At the western foot of the slope of the Farrenbergs is 602.4 m above sea level. NHN high altitude Olga, a recreation area of the city Mossingen. The Olga height is equipped with forest playground and hiking car park. It is the starting point for ascents of Farrenbergs. On Saturday after the summer solstice, a bonfire is lit by the Swabian Albverein there every year. On the plateau of Farrenbergs formerly Bohnerz was collected that has formed there as weathering rest of the Malm limestones.
