Fast ion conductor

The ion conductor (English ionic conductor ) is

  • In electrochemistry a gas, a solid or a liquid, in which / of the transport takes place electric charges by ions rather than by electrons. Typical ion conductors are ionized gases and electrolytes. The half-cells of the galvanic cells are connected by an ion-conductive salt bridge.
  • In neurophysiology an intra-or extracellular fluid and between each of these, mediating membrane passages, eg in the form of ion channels and ion pumps.
