Faucogney-et-la-Mer

Faucogney -et -la -Mer is a commune in the Haute- Saône in the Franche -Comté; it belongs to the district of Lure and is capital of the canton Faucogney -et -la -Mer. The municipality belongs to the Communauté de communes of mille étangs and is part of the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges.

History

Faucogney -et -la -Mer was taken on February 8, 1806 by the merger of the municipalities Faucogney and La Mer Faucogney and its castle were the headquarters of the Lords of Faucogney, which were at times also viscounts of Vesoul.

The most famous of the Sires de Faucogney was Jean III. ( 1330/63 witnessed ), the married around 1338/40 Isabella of France ( † after 1363), daughter of King Philip V and widow of Guigues VIII, Dauphin of Viennois († 1333).
