FAUR

FAUR S. A. is a Romanian vehicle and machinery manufacturer based in Bucharest.

The company was founded in 1921 by industrialist Nicolae Malaxa under the name Malaxa and was later the name Rogifer (until 1945) and Lokomotivfabrik August 23 ( since 1945 ). Initially the company produced exclusively manufactures rail vehicles, since 1950 the production program also includes machines for various industries. In the CMEA, the factory produced at the request of the GDR, the Class 119 of Deutsche Reichsbahn, since neither the GDR nor the USSR were allowed to provide the desired performance diesel locomotives. During this time, narrow gauge locomotives L18H were delivered in the GDR. In 1986, these were two locomotives that were on the Bebel- hut in Helbra ( copper mining ) in use. One of the locomotives is now in a new engine in use in France ( www.le- ptit -train.com ). More locomotives were delivered in 1990 by Helbra, but were no longer used by the decommissioning of the hut. These are in use in Germany, see the next paragraph.

Main products are even after the end of the CMEA continue the manufacture and maintenance of rolling stock of different types and gauges as well as the production of machine components and engines.

In Germany, in addition to the above locomotives of Class 119 (later 219/229 ) some narrow gauge locomotives of the company in use:

  • Each two locomotives L18H on the Wangerooger Island Railway and the Albbähnle
  • A locomotive of type L30H in SOEG, two more in the Döllnitz web
  • Ever a locomotive of type L45H in Fichtelbergbahn, the Lößnitzgrundbahn, the Weißeritztalbahn and the Saxon- Oberlausitzer Railway Company

Also located with the locomotive 2099.01 of ÖGLB on the Ybbstalbahn and another machine on the Stainzerbahn two locomotives of the type L45H in Austria.

More numerous are FAUR locomotives in addition to the country of origin also in the other countries that were members in the CMEA. To find, for example, in the series of PKP Lyd2 ( L30H ), Lxd2 ( L45H ) and MBxd2 ( railcars A20d -P) on various narrow gauge railways. More FAUR locomotives were sold to Britain and St. Kitts and are deployed there.
