Faustinus

Faustinus was a Roman Emperor against the 3rd century AD

Faustinus was a usurper against Tetricus I, the last emperor of the so-called Gallic Empire ( Gallic Empire ). He is known only by a few notes in written sources, which shows that a certain Faustinus have instigated a mutiny among the troops of the Tetricus. Neither his full name nor his previous career have survived. According Polemius Silvius took his usurpation in Augusta Treverorum (Trier), the provincial capital of Gallia Belgica, their starting point. As Aurelius Victor reports Faustinus was I. provincial governor under Tetricus, he could have been governor of Gallia Belgica at the time of his usurpation.

The exact time of the usurpation of the Faustinus is controversial, in the spring or early summer of the year 274 appears most likely at the latest with the defeat of Tetricus against Aurelian probably the usurpation of Faustinus have been completed. There are no information on supplies to concrete acts of Faustinus during his usurpation or about his fate.
